Spreading Culture in the Cultural City: Education = Happiness!

On the western side of India, just a few hours from the gulf of Khambat, sits the city of Vadodara. With sprawling temples, spiritual statues, and a lush landscape, the city is an architectural sight to see. But behind its beauty and glamor of “The Cultural City” are the many residents who live in poverty. The children who go hungry. The parents who lose their jobs because of COVID-19. The mothers who can’t afford groceries. The streets, lined with stray or abandoned dogs, unable to feed themselves. Like many cities, Vadodara has issues.

Luckily, Happy Faces Vadodara has become a shining beacon of hope for the city. With over 350 volunteers, and more than 5 years of experience, our non-profit organization has helped hundreds, if not thousands of people (and dogs) in the city. Our efforts over the pandemic have not gone unnoticed, as we prepared meals, ingredients, and much more for the poor and homeless in their city. And with recent projects, the foundation has been able to pay for food for the many stray dogs in the city.

Now comes an important step for Happy Faces in the coming months. After having one successful education center, with close to 85 students daily, we are looking to expand. Our center teaches general education to their children, and provides daily meals. We also offer extracurricular activities and teach children not just how to learn, but how to be functioning and respectful members of the community. The foundation’s work looks to build a better future, rather than just making changes now. These education centers can help young children acquire better paying jobs, allowing them to provide for their families. The parents of these children can save money on food to pay for other bills and necessities. The center is an amazing idea and has proven extremely beneficial to the children.

So, what are the future plans for these education centers? With all the success and effectiveness that these centers have shown, it would only help to create more centers. HFV is looking to expand to three more centers, creating a total of four centers in the city. The idea is to serve up to 500 kids daily, and create a much more educated society. With all these amazing plans and infrastructure, there is also a need for funding. We cannot provide and serve these children, your community, without your donations and support.

We appreciate any amount, and are grateful for all the volunteers, and we hope you can provide for these young and growing children. Education is one of the most important tools to revitalize a society. We can show the rest of the world how great and successful Vadodara is, with the smartest and most motivated children. With the lowest poverty rates and least number of children on the streets. The future is very bright for Vadodara, but we need to act now. Again, we encourage any and all help, with money or time.
